What would you do? What would you do if you look out your window or are outside, and see someone letting their dog go to the bathroom in your yard? It has happened to all of us, and will likely happen sometime this spring or summer, but how to approach the topic can often be a dilemma, and the fear of conflict can dictate how many choose to act. There are many dog owners in Idaho, and many enjoy taking them for a walk, so if you see one letting their pet go in your yard, and not pick it up, what would you do?

With the warmer weather, many in Idaho are getting out and taking advantage of it. Part of that is getting their pets out with them and taking them for a walk. Nobody can fault them with the beautiful spring and summer nights, especially in the Magic Valley. There are many pet owners, so there are likely to be many dogs in the neighborhoods or on trails this time of year. Occasionally, these dogs will stop and do their business in someone's yard, and it is expected that the owner will pick it up, but not all owners do. They likely hope that nobody sees them as they go on their way and leave their dog's businesses behind, but what happens when the owner of the yard sees the act? What should the owner do? What would you do?

If you notice someone in your yard letting their dog do their business, how would you react? Would you stay inside, watch, and see if they clean it up? Would you go out and start a conversation, and make sure they know you are present and watching, and guilt them into picking it up? If they start walking off, would you go outside and say somethingor would you pick it up yourself? If they got away without you being able to say something, would you approach them the next time they come around? For whatever reason, certain individuals think it is ok to let their dog's poop stay in someone's yard. Yes, there are times they are out of bags, and it can be a one-off thing, but if it happens frequently, how do you deal with it?
