What would you do? What would you do if another parent, a random adult, or someone walked up to you and told you how to raise your children or to get control of them? Would instinct take over, and would you yell at them and defend your parenting skills? Would you get too aggressive and decide to hit them? Would you walk away without responding and ignore the comment? Would you ask for more details or be able to stay calm in the situation? Anyone who has been a parent knows that it can be rough, and despite the best of our abilities, our kids have a mind of their own. If someone came up to you and told you to do better, what would you do?

Telling Parents How to Parent in Idaho

Parenting is the hardest job you will ever do. There is not an official rule book, and many of us make it up as we go each day. Every kid is different, every family is different, and a lot of it is improv in the moment. Some parents can stay home and put all of their effort into their children, some have to work to keep a roof over the family and food on the table, and some want nothing to do with their children at all. Many parents do the best they can and raise their children how they seem fit, but in today's society, everyone has an opinion, and some think it is ok to tell others how to raise their kids, without knowing their situation or without being respectful of others' beliefs and parenting methods.

Kids are going to get in trouble. We all did things as children that got us grounded, in a timeout, and likely punished in other ways, depending on when you grew up and your family. Kids have energy, they want to do bad things, and they like to get into trouble. If an adult questions your parenting, what is the proper way to react? Obviously, it is easy to sit at a computer and say you would be calm and answer decently, but reality is much different when the words, the approach, and the aggressiveness get your blood going and your heart racing. Human instinct is to let the inner mama bear or papa bear out and put that individual in their place. Sadly, in today's world, we have to be aware of our reactions publicly, and it is best to walk away without giving them the time of day.
