The Magic Valley is Begging For Snow this Winter
Winter in Idaho is typically bitter cold, windy, and wet. There are usually multiple days if not weeks, or sometimes months of snow. The wind chills you to your bones. The temperatures are often so low that walking outside is only because you have to, not because you want to. Many residents spend months near a fire or with the heater on bundled up in multiple layers, but this winter that hasn't been happening. It has been a relatively dry winter, with a few mornings and evenings of snow, but nothing that has stuck around for long periods. Yes, there is snow in the mountains, but much of Idaho is missing out. Residents of the Magic Valley have taken notice of the dry winter, and while it may seem surprising, some are begging for snow to hit the area sooner rather than later.
Why the Magic Valley Wants Snow
A winter without snow in Idaho may sound nice to some. The roads are clear, which means it likely is warmer, and it means no slipping and sliding on the way to the car. That isn't winter in Idaho though, and something feels off this year. It hasn't felt like winter truly, and the Magic Valley is long overdue for snow. The moisture is good for the crops, it leads to fun snow activities, and for kids, it can mean a day out of school. A winter with little to no snow, especially in Idaho, is just cold without the fun and enjoyment that winter can bring. Residents anticipate snow every year and so far, they have been disappointed, and after weeks of a boring winter, some snow would be a welcomed addition.
Snow in Idaho
While snow is easy to find in the Gem State, having to drive to the mountains for it, isn't the same as walking into your front or backyard and enjoying making a snow angel, building a snowman, or having a snowball fight. For some, they look forward to using their snow blower or perhaps a flamethrower to melt the snow. Some enjoy calling out of work and staying home to be a child once again, or sit next to the window with a warm beverage, and enjoy seeing the white on the ground. For children, there are only so many school days during a school career, and a whole school year without one is a year wasted.

While the days of snow might still be coming, as each day passes it is seeming less and less likely. Some will rejoice in not having to drive on ice and snow this winter, but for many, a day of snow is needed and would be much appreciated. The weather will be getting colder in the coming month, but if snow does not come, the Magic Valley will be disappointed.
