7 Reasons Twin Falls is a Great Place to Live
Living in Twin Falls is something everyone should experience in life. No matter if you live here for a short stint, like a few months for a job, a few years and then move on, or decide to call it your permanent home, it is a place everyone should live in for a bit. For those unaware, I will be moving out of Twin Falls after nearly four and a half years, and as I reflect on my time here in my final days of calling the area home, there are things that I will miss and love about the area. Here are some things that make living in Twin Falls and the Magic Valley so great, and why everyone should live here at some point.
Natural Beauty in Twin Falls
The best part of living in Twin Falls has to be the natural beauty you can't beat anywhere else. The canyon supplies some incredible views of waterfalls, the cliff sides, the Snake River, and, of course, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, the Shoshone Falls. If that wasn't enough, you get mountains to watch the sun come over in the east, beautiful snowcapped mountains in the north in the winter, and the southern hills to enjoy to the south. It is impossible not to enjoy the beauty in the Magic Valley.
Outdoor Activities in the Magic Valley
While it is nice to look at all the natural beauty, it also supplies a lot of fun. The Snake River offers a wide variety of activities, like kayaking, boating, fishing, or enjoying a nice picnic. There are great areas to go camping, hiking, and some great hidden gems to find for swimming as well. There are beautiful waterfalls to explore, hot springs to relax in, and great spots for hunting as well.
The Small Town Lifestyle in Twin Falls
Not everyone likes the big city, and for many, the small town lifestyle is a better way to go. You can get to and from the store in minutes, it feels like you know everyone, even if you don't, and it isn't too overwhelming. There is something cozy about living in a small town that makes people feel safe. There is less crime, less traffic, and overall fewer worries in a small town.
The Traffic in the Magic Valley
As mentioned above, you can often run to the store in mere minutes, but that isn't the only benefit of less traffic. Having fewer cars than major cities allows you to get to the other side of town fairly quickly, allows for a shorter commute to work, less road rage, and overall is likely better for your mental health. While you may find yourself stuck behind a tractor or a slow vehicle from time to time, overall, traffic is a plus in the Magic Valley.
The People in the Magic Valley
While some may disagree with this one, the people in the Magic Valley make it a nice place to live. Yes, some can make life miserable, but once you find your group of people, they will likely be loyal and make life overall good for you during your time in Twin Falls. There are some incredible people in the Magic Valley with caring and giving hearts, loving smiles, and willing to help those in need. Getting a community in the Magic Valley is key to enjoying life, and when you find one, you'll never want to leave it.
The Community Events in the Magic Valley
One great thing about the Magic Valley is the many community events that take place each year. There are tons of events that happen throughout the calendar that many look forward to each year, and they are traditions for many families. Sagebrush Days, Ice Cream Funday, The Living Nativity, Western Days, Tubbs Berry Farm, and many others make living in the Magic Valley fun throughout the year.
Traveling From Idaho
While some may view this as a negative, it can also be a positive. Yes, Twin Falls is far from Boise and Salt Lake City, but when it comes to traveling for a summer road trip, Twin Falls is a pretty nice place to be. You are about eight hours from Las Vegas, about eight hours from Portland, or a day's drive from Seattle. You are also close enough to visit Yellowstone for a weekend, a day's trip from Colorado, or you can even make it all the way to San Diego or Phoenix in a day. If you have a passport, you can cross the border into Canada or go to Montana and enjoy Glacier National Park. Not many places have this many great options that are within a day's drive.

While Twin Falls may not be your forever home, it is definitely a place worth living in for a little bit. There is plenty to like about it, and I will miss living here. My kids grew up here, I grew as a person, and a little part of Twin Falls will stick with me everywhere I go. I feel blessed to have been able to call Twin Falls home, and everyone who has ever done so or will do so should, too.
