The Best Places to Get French Fries in the Magic Valley
There is a lot of good food to enjoy in the Gem State. There is fresh fish, bison, hamburgers, ice cream, and anything else you could want. Being that Idaho is best known for potatoes, it isn't surprising that most residents enjoy French fries, although most people enjoy them even if they aren't from Idaho. Finding good French fries in the Magic Valley isn't hard, as many places offer delicious options, but when it comes to choosing which ones are the best, that can be a tough decision. Which places in the Magic Valley have the best French fries, and where are you going to get your favorite?
Red Robin French Fries
There is a wide variety of types of fries, and no fry is created equal. While most in the Magic Valley prefer to eat and support local chains, it is hard to deny that Red Robin has some great fries. First off, any place that offers bottomless fries is worthy of this list, and second, their thick steak-cut fries over a big fry, perfect for dipping. While it might be a national chain, Red Robin is among the best fries in the Magic Valley.
The Anchor Fries
Going more local, The Anchor has some of the best fries in town, and they pair well with a variety of meals. You can get regular or their garlic parmesan fries, and both are delicious. One of the best parts about The Anchor's fries is that if you have any left over, unlike most fries, they are still good reheated. Although if you are taking some home, you clearly didn't eat right at The Anchor.
Scooter's Fries
Sticking with local, Scooter's also ranks among the best fries you will find not only in town, but anywhere in the state of Idaho. Their Parmesan garlic fries might be the best you will ever find, and if you prefer normal fries, they have those too, and they are thick. Dip them in fry sauce or eat them without dipping; it doesn't matter. They are delicious and pair well with anything on the menu. The fries alone are worth going to Scooter's.
McDonald's Fries
McDonald's was almost disqualified from this list because their fries are in a category of their own. McDonald's fries are world famous, and it is tough to find someone who hasn't had them at least once in their life. They are so good that they don't need ketchup, fry sauce, or any type of dip, and typically are gone before a vehicle is fully out of the drive-thru. They are easily the most famous fries on this list and for good reason. As long as McDonald's is around, they will be at the top fries list.
Five Guys French Fries
A hidden gem on this list of food chains is Five Guys. It isn't as well-known as some of the other chains on this list, but their fresh-cut fries are tough to beat. They come in a big cup, giving you plenty to eat, and while salty, typically have the right amount of flavor with a mixture of hard and soft fries mixed. Their fries are a must when visiting and getting a meal.
Arby's Curly Fries
Getting away from regular fries and focusing on curly fries, is there any place that can do them better than Arby's? If you go to Arby's and get regular fries, you will be missing out on perhaps their best food item. Similar to McDonald's, these fries don't need dipping sauce and are typically eaten long before you get home if going through the drive-thru.
Jack in the Box Curly Fries
If there is any place that can compete against Arby's when it comes to curly fries, Jack in the Box is it. They are decently comparable and are a must when visiting the fast food chain. Don't make the mistake of ordering regular fries and missing out on some of the best curly fries you will find anywhere.

While National French Fry Day has come and gone, as it took place on July 11, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy delicious fries all year. These are some of the top places to get fries in the area, but perhaps you disagree and have a place you think has better ones. If so, make sure to message us and let us know, so we can add it to the list.
