The holidays can cause many headaches for people as they deal with the stress of shopping, dealing with family members, and having a sugar overload with holiday cookies and candies. Getting a headache can be one of the worst things to deal with, as getting rid of them can be tough, and no matter how much sleep you get, Tylenol you take, or method you use, sometimes they linger and make life miserable. What is the best way to cure a headache? Everyone seems to have a different method. It all depends on the type of headache you have as well. Some get migraines easily, while others get a headache from eating or drinking too much sugar, not enough sleep, or perhaps from glasses or contacts messing up their vision. Some prefer to lie down and take a nap, while others find relaxation in a bath. Others need a drink of water or medication, such as Tylenol or Advil, to help. These are all good ways, but according to one doctor, there is a way to cure headaches that perhaps you haven't thought of yet, and that is by going to McDonald's and ordering fries and a soft drink. It may seem bizarre, but studies show that fast food could be what you need.

How does fast food and a soda help cure a headache? According to a recent study on Ladbible.com, the first way it helps is that the brain is happy to receive something it wants. Most people enjoy McDonald's French fries, and consuming good food will trigger dopamine as a way to reward the brain. The other way this would help is with the soda, where the caffeine works as a way to relieve migraine symptoms for certain individuals. Caffeine may also cause headaches, so it is good to figure out if this works for you or makes it worse. Lastly, the amount of salt on McDonald's French fries is known to be more than in other places, and this salt works as an electrolyte and actually hydrates the body. Similar to caffeine, this is a trial-and-error process, as too much salt could trigger a migraine for some.

While it may not work for everyone, it is worth ordering fries and a drink from McDonald's the next time you have a migraine and are looking to relieve the pain in your head. It may work for you and it may not, but you won't know unless you try it. For more on the study, make sure to click the link in the second paragraph above.
