The Gem State’s Favorite Christmas Cookie Isn’t What You Would Think
The holiday season is a great time of year. There are Christmas lights, gifts, holiday music, movies, decorations, and much more. There is a lot to look forward to throughout the year, anticipating the holidays. Everyone has one thing or two they enjoy the most and look forward to the most. For some, it is the music, for some it is the lights, but for many it is the cookies that oddly only get made this time of the year. There are many types of Christmas cookies and treats to enjoy during the holidays, but what is Idaho's favorite Christmas cookie?
Christmas Cookies in Idaho
There are many types of cookies to enjoy during the holiday season. Many grew up making sugar cookies with their mom, grandma, aunt, or another family member, pushing cookie cutters into the dough, spreading frosting on the cookies, or putting on sprinkles. For many families, making sugar cookies at Christmas is a tradition. They aren't the only good cookies, though, as snickerdoodles are a popular choice during the holidays as well. Peanut butter blossoms are my favorite, also known as Kiss cookies. Then there is the tradition of making a Gingerbread house. Not everyone eats them as they prefer the act of making the home, but some like to devour them throughout the holiday season as well. There are many cookies to enjoy this time of year, and much more than what is listed above, but is Idaho's favorite Christmas cookie your favorite?
What is Idaho's Favorite Christmas Cookie?
What is the most popular Christmas cookie in the United States? According to a recent study by corporate.target.com, the most popular holiday season cookie is gingerbread. The study reveals that 38 states in the country prefer the gingerbread cookie over any others during the holidays; however, Idaho is not among those 38 states. Eight states chose sugar cookies as their favorite Christmas cookie, and Idaho is among them. Leave it to the Gem State to go against the popular choice. The sugar cookie is sweet, can come in different shapes, and has frosting, no frosting, sprinkles, or no sprinkles, offering a variety of ways to enjoy it. The only other cookie to make the list was shortbread cookies, which four states claimed were their favorite. Perhaps none of these are your favorite, but that is ok, as there is a variety of other cookies to enjoy this holiday season.
