What would you do? What would you do if your boss told you that you are not allowed to use your cell phone at all during office hours? Would you quit your job? Would you try to sneak in texts, phone calls, and checking your social media? Would you argue and petition this new rule? Cell phones are a huge part of life for everyone, and it is tough to find anyone who doesn't have one, although they do exist. If your job said no cell phone use during work hours in Idaho, what would you do?

The Twin Falls School District has adopted a new rule about no cell phones during school hours, which has students upset, and some parents as well. Imagine this being the other way around, and as an adult, if you were not allowed to have your cell phone during work hours. You can't text or call your kids, your spouse, or your friends. If you are caught using it, you get written up or your phone taken away by your boss, which would create a whole other issue. The thought of not having access to a cell phone for 8 to 9 hours a day seems ridiculous, but this is similar to what students are going through.

If a job told you about this policy ahead of time, it could have you contemplating accepting the job or not, but if you have a good job and have been there for a while, finding out a new policy is in place could make for a tough choice ahead. Do you stick with your job, or do you quit, knowing they are taking away your freedom and rights, as well as cutting you off from your family during work hours? Would you try to get your coworkers to rally with you and walk out or petition the new rule? It is likely in 2024 that a rule such as this would not pass in a workplace, but if it did, the backlash would not be pretty.
