What would you do? What would you do if you were running errands, headed to work, or having lunch or dinner with a friend, and realized you forgot your phone at home? Would you turn around and go get it? Would you keep going and live life without it until you return home? Would you ask to borrow someone's phone and ask a family member to bring it to you when they get a chance? How long could you survive before it would bother you and you have to go get it? Does it depend on where you are going and what you are doing? It is easy to forget your phone somewhere from time to time and happens to everyone, but when it does what would you do?

Everyone forgets their phone from time to time, and it used to not be a big deal, but as time has gone on, everyone is reliant on their phone in some sense. You need it to communicate with people, it may have your debit card on it, your shopping list, or you use it to watch videos in a waiting room, get access to your Costco card, or get discounts at stores. Some use it at work to do their job, and others like to have it so their spouse or family members know where they are. Not having a phone can be a big deal, but in the case of going to the movies or dinner, you may not need it, despite what you may think. It used to be that society functioned without phones, but now everyone is dependent on them and it makes life unbearable to not have it with you.

When it comes to forgetting your phone at home, there are many factors to consider in how to proceed. Where are you going? What are you doing? How is the weather? In Idaho, the last one could be the most important. On a day when the snow is coming down and the roads are bad, turning back might not be the best option. If construction is happening, which is likely, it may take a while and a couple of detours to get back home. If going to the store to pick something up quickly, a movie, or a place where you don't need it, then leaving it at home is the best option. At what point in your driving, have you gone too far to turn around? Is 15 minutes too far? Is it 30 minutes? What about if you are an hour away from home?

Recently, I forgot my phone on the way to work and realized about halfway between work and home, with a decision to make. Knowing, that I would need it for work and to contact some people, I decided to turn around and accept the consequences of being late that day. Things worked out, but it may not for others in this situation. If you left your phone at home, what would you do?
