The Best Advice to Give to Tourists Visiting the Magic Valley
As summer rolls on, more and more tourists have made their way to the Magic Valley. Many people stop through the area every year to take in the sites and experience Southern Idaho. Living here, it isn't uncommon to get questions about what there is to do, to see, and how long someone should stay. While some locals will say there is nothing to see or do and to not spend any time here, that isn't entirely true. When it comes to giving tourists advice on the Magic Valley here are the best things to tell them about visiting the area.
How Long to Stay in Twin Falls When Visiting
This can be a tricky question to answer because it often depends on the time of year and what the person is into. If someone enjoys fishing, hiking, or camping, and visits in the summer, then they likely would want to stay 3 to 4 days. If someone wants to see the Perrine Bridge and perhaps BASE jump off of it or to see the Evil Knievel jump site, then they likely would only need two days in town. Visiting in the winter for someone who enjoys the snow, may want to stay 3 to 4 days, although they likely would rather visit Sun Valley than the Magic Valley. On average, 2 to 3 days is likely what most people would need in Twin Falls, before moving on to their next destination.
What to Do and See in Twin Falls
Twin Falls is not a destination with many tourist attractions. The Perrine Bridge, the Evil Knievel jump site, and the canyon are the main attractions. You can see all of them within a day, but experiencing time in the canyon and on the Snake River requires its own day. If people are adventurous and enjoy hiking, there are some great trails in the area, and multiple days could be spent outdoors. The same could be said for camping or fishing as well. Everyone who visits Twin Falls should kayak on the Snake River at least once, especially from Centennial Park. Walking downtown can be enjoyable as there are some great shops, and some good eating as well. If someone visits in the summer, make sure to let them know about events happening, as there is always something fun to do on the weekends during this time of year.
Overall, Twin Falls isn't the biggest tourist town, but it does have a good amount that comes through each year. If someone asks you about visiting Twin, make sure to let them know they likely will only need a couple of days at best, and that there isn't a lot to see or do, but enough worth stopping by. What would you recommend for someone visiting and how long do you think they should stay?
