Twin Falls Man to Serve Time for Vehicular Manslaughter and Video Voyeurism Charges

A Magic Valley man will spend several years behind bars for charges in two separate cases, one involved the death of two people, the other secretly recording someone. Brian Trappen was recently sentenced in Twin Falls District Court for video voyeurism after pleading guilty to one count earlier this year.

On November 25 Trappen was handed two years fixed, with three years unfixed, meaning he could serve a total of five years behind bars. Trappen was charged for placing a hidden camera in a room with a tanning bed were the victim didn't know they were being recorded. Authorities discovered the images during another investigation into a vehicular manslaughter case in Jerome County which Trappen was sentenced about a week earlier on November 19.

A judge sentenced him, after pleading guilty to the charges, to a minimum of four years for one count of vehicular manslaughter, with five years unfixed for a potential total of nine years behind bars; the sentencing for the second vehicular manslaughter charge is identical and will run concurrently with count one. The time for video voyeurism will also be served at the same time as the vehicular manslaughter charges are being served. Two people, one a juvenile, were killed and several others injured in a multi-vehicle crash in June of 2018 when Trappen drove the wrong direction on Interstate 84 near Jerome.
