What Would You Do? What would you do if you had multiple kids this Halloween wanting to go to two different places, knowing you'd miss out on a special night with one of your kids? How do you handle this situation and pick which kid to go with? Do you disappoint one and force everyone to stay together? Does one parent go with one child and the other parent goes with the other? What if you want to stay home and hand out candy, and now your plans are ruined because you must take one of your children out? Halloween is a special time and a day that parents look back on fondly of their children dressed up, but when you have to choose which kids to spend it with, what would you do?

Taking your kids trick-or-treating is one of the best parts about being a parent, especially around Halloween. You get to see your kid in their costume, saying those adorable words, and enjoying a night of being a kid collecting candy. As a parent, you also selfishly are watching them collect all the candy you hope to snack on over the next few days and weeks, while they do all the work. There are some great memories to be had on Halloween and plenty of pictures and videos to be taken. When you have multiple kids it can be tough, because there are only so many Halloweens in a child's life, making them all precious, but when your oldest child wants to go one way, and your other child or children want to go another, it makes it tough on parents to know what to do.

As a parent, it can be tough. You can force everyone to stay together, upsetting one or some of your children, and then the memories will be negative, or you can decide as parents to split up, but miss out on spending time with some of your other children. It is a difficult spot to be in as a parent, but what is the best way to go? You could Facetime your spouse and feel like you are still a part of everyone's plans, but that can be difficult, and it isn't the same. As much as parents are in denial this will happen, as kids get older they will have their plans in mind, and force parents to make this tough choice. A day will come when your oldest child won't want mom and dad around on Halloween, breaking years of traditions and memories. When this day comes, it will be heartbreaking.

The best thing for a parent to do in this situation is to enjoy the moments and memories while you can and know they won't last forever. There will come a time when parents have to go in different directions on Halloween or drop one child off with their friends so they can enjoy the younger siblings while they still can. If your children force you to make a tough choice on where to go or who to spend Halloween with this year, what would you do?
