What would you do? What would you do if during the long hot summer days in Idaho, your air conditioner stopped working and you no longer had a source to cool off? Idaho heat can be unbearable at times, and no source to lower the temperature in your house would be tough, but how do you handle the situation? Do you go and stay at a hotel until it is fixed? Do you stay with a friend or family member? Do you fix it immediately, despite a hit to the wallet? Do you suffer through the heat? It would not be ideal, but if your air conditioner were to go out, what would you do?

While Idaho doesn't get as hot as other states in the country, the summers can still be long and hot, especially throughout July and August. Without a window unit, fans, or air conditioner, it can make living uncomfortable. From time to time, things happen and a unit may break, stop working, or come to the end of its shelf life. When this happens a choice has to be made. The obvious solution is to get it fixed immediately to get back to luxury living and being cooled off, but it can take days sometimes and it can cost a good amount of money, depending on the problem and how to fix it.

When it comes to living in Idaho, many have central air conditioning to help themselves stay cool during the summer, but many older homes rely on window or wall units. These are a cheaper way to keep your house cool, but less effective than central air conditioning. The nice part about a wall or window unit is that they don't cost as much to repair and replacing one can happen easily and affordably the same day one goes out. With central air conditioning, the cost is more than most would feel comfortable paying, but is a must if you don't want to live in a hot box. Without a cooling source, it makes living uncomfortable, sleeping nearly impossible, and life unbearable in the house. If you can't afford to get it fixed right away or if it takes longer than anticipated, staying somewhere else for a few days is also an option.

Do you suffer through it, stay someplace else, or fork up the money to get it fixed? If your air conditioner went out this summer in Idaho, what would you do?
