Twin Falls Event Aims To Combat Proposal Of Ban Of Public Drag

A new bill has been proposed to lawmakers to prevent the public performance of drag in Idaho. This weekend, there is an event in Twin Falls where LGBTQ+ and supporters can gather to help combat the potential decision.

Ban Of Public Drag In Idaho Being Proposed

After several events where drag performers were reading to children and hosting other public events, some people found it to be inappropriate and lewd. Some stated it was sexually explicit and inappropriate. Events such as Boise Pride featured "drag kids" performances for ages 11 to 18, and many corporate sponsors pulled their names from the event entirely. The bill started gaining speed after that. The bill proposes a ban of all public drag events and performances.

LGBTQ+ Event In Twin Falls Wants To Combat Proposal

Reading with Drag Storytime and Fundraiser is happening Sunday at 2:30 pm at the Magic Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 160 9th Ave East. According to the event on Facebook, the fundraiser will go toward travel costs to get to Boise to advocate for the continuation of public drag events. It is a free event and local drag artists will read and give away LGBTQ+ children's books to those who attend.
