For years it seems like everyone has been hearing about the REAL ID and being told they have to get one. There have been countless timelines and it has been moved back time and time again. It has been going on for so long and so many moved deadlines that it almost seems like a myth these days. It is indeed real and something you need to get, especially if you are looking to travel by plane in the future. When is the REAL ID Deadline in Idaho, Washington, and Utah

The deadline to get a REAL ID is finally here, and if you are looking to travel soon and do not have one, your time has run out. As of Wednesday, May 7, you will need a REAL ID to board a plane in the Gem State and anywhere you are flying out of for that matter in the United States. All U.S. travelers over the age of 18 will need one if they want to board a flight and not having one will likely lead to being denied boarding your plane. Not only can you not board a flight without one but you can't enter a military base or federal building without one either. 

What is a REAL ID?

For those unaware of what a REAL ID is, it is similar to a normal driver's license but with a Star in the corner indicating that you meet federal security standards. Getting one isn't difficult but may take some time. If you don't have one currently, you have waited until the last minute and many DMVs are expected to be crowded over the next few days and weeks for those that put off getting one. You will need your social security card, birth certificate or passport, and proof of residency such as a water bill, electric bill, or lease agreement.
