We all do it, but nobody enjoys talking about it. It is embarrassing to talk about and falls into the taboo category. Going to the bathroom is something everyone on this planet has to do, and while many avoid the topic, it is hard not to notice sometimes how others take longer to go. This can be due to medical reasons, lines, or perhaps spending too much time on their phones. If people didn't have their phones in the bathroom, how much more time would they have to enjoy the day and get other things done at work, at home, or doing other activities?

How Much Time Do People Spend on the Toilet?

There are certain days and situations where you spend far too much time on the toilet. There are days you get busy, and perhaps you didn't spend enough time there and pay for it the following day. On average, though the amount of time spent doing a number two may surprise you. According to one study on greengobbler.com, the average American spends about 12 minutes doing a number two when they go. For some that may seem like a long time, and for others it may not seem long enough. The main reason that the time falls where it is, is because many Americans are too busy on their phones instead of doing their business. 

Using Phones on the Toilet

According to the study, the average person will end up spending 240 days on the throne taking care of businesses. That could be lowered if you put your phone away focus on the task at hand and get off the throne sooner. According to a different study from portlandloo.com, 65 percent of Americans admit to taking their phone with them to the toilet. For those that think they spend too long in the bathroom, you have a long way to go to break the world record, which currently sits at 116 hours. Far too many times people stay in the restroom when they have been done long ago, taking up valuable time and perhaps taking up a toilet or stall while someone in need waits outside.

You got to go, you got to go, but perhaps you are spending more time sitting than you realize.
