O’Leary Middle School Under Heightened Security After Social Media Threat
TWIN FALL, Idaho (KLIX) The Twin Falls School District has placed O'Leary Middle school under heightened security after threats were made on social media.
District spokesperson Eva Craner says it may be connected to the 'creepy clown' prank that is making it's way across the country. Craner says the district is following recommendations from local law enforcement to increase security at the school as a precaution. She says it is not a lock-down.
Similar situations have been reported in other states involving schools and clowns. Authorities say it seems to be a hoax.
Lt. Terry Thueson with the Twin Falls Police says the threat was not credible or specific. Lt. Thueson says O'Leary does have a school resource officer and other officers will patrol the area today. He asks the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Students will be kept inside with all doors locked along with other security measures. Craner says the principal will send a notification to parents before students are released for the day. More information to come.
