Is it too Soon for Halloween Shopping in the Gem State?

The temperature indicates it is still summer, and while school has started for most now, it is technically still summer. Labor Day is yet to happen, the calendar still hasn't turned to September, and it is still warm enough to enjoy the pool, water parks, the lake, and the river. All signs are that summer is still in full swing, yet when you walk into certain stores, they are covered with fall decorations and even have Halloween candy, Halloween decorations, and costumes out. With school not even a week old for most, is it too soon to be thinking about Halloween already in Idaho?

It Is Too Soon For Halloween in Idaho

Fall is one of the best times in Idaho and might be the best season of them all anywhere. Especially in Idaho, it means cooler weather, football, hay mazes, corn mazes, spooky attractions, and Halloween. While these are some of the best memories of the year, it might still be a little too soon to get excited for them. There aren't any major holidays from now until Halloween, except Labor Day, but Halloween is still over 2 months away, yet stores are beginning to put out holiday decorations and candy. Most kids are not thinking about what they want to be, and are more concerned about their new classmates and teachers at this point. How soon is too soon for Halloween shopping in Idaho?

Halloween and Fall Shopping in Idaho

For those who are interested in getting a head start on fall and Halloween shopping, Costco, TJ Max, HomeGoods and many other stores have already put some decorations out and have had them out for a few weeks already. There are already people stocking up on Halloween decorations and preparing for the holiday, despite it being a decent amount away. I have friends who have already dropped over $100 on the holiday this year. Getting fall decorations isn't as bad as it is fast approaching and with football kicking off in less than two weeks and school underway, it will feel like fall soon enough. If you are shopping for costumes already, you are ahead of the curve and might be a little ambitious, but at least it will be one less concern come October. The negative to buying a costume for a child this soon is that in two months they could want to be something else.

No matter how excited you are for the upcoming season and holiday, two months is too soon to be shopping for Halloween. Let school get a few weeks to a month in, let football season get a couple of weeks in, and then begin shopping and browsing for the spooky day. Shopping for fall decorations is ok, but it is too soon to make the switch and have them out. Buy them if you see a great deal, but keep them away for another few weeks. Despite stores having Halloween products on the shelves, it doesn't mean you have to buy them yet.
