The Gooding Basque Association is hosting its monthly public dinner and market to celebrate the first Friday of November.

A November 1 dinner and celebration of the Basque culture has been planned by association organizers in the city of Gooding, Idaho. The Gooding Basque Organization hosts a public dinner the first Friday of each month. The event will be held at the city's Basque center, at 285 Euskadi Lane, which has been an annual gathering location since 2003.

The gatherings are a way to give the public an understanding of the culture, through food, dance, and a number of other activities. The dinner will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their children with them.

The menu will consist of classic dishes such as grilled lamb chops, with Basque rice and sheepherders bread. Other items served at the first Friday dinner will include ham with red peppers, lamb ribs, homemade Basque soup, tossed salad and a variety of desserts. Beverages will also be available.

A plate will costs $16 for adults, and $14 for seniors. One of the host families will also be bringing a variety of holiday handmade crafts and goods for sale. If you have any additional questions regarding the event, you can phone 208-308-5051, and ask to speak with Julie Gough. You do not need to be a member of the association to attend the meal.
