Jerome Police Respond To Shooting, Hazardous Threat Hours Apart

The Jerome Police Department responded to two serious incidents in a span of just 12 hours, one involving a gunshot victim and the other requiring the assembling of the local bomb squad. The department shared details of the events that took place between 9:27 P.M. Tuesday and 8:01 A.M. Wednesday (July 22) on its Meta site.

A large police presence in Jerome could be seen by people traveling near 10th Avenue East Wednesday morning as multiple cruisers and a tactical command vehicle responded to a residence to investigate some materials that were reportedly labeled explosive, according to the Jerome Police Department's social media post today.

The department closed the street and alerted area residents of a potential bomb threat as explosive specialists surveyed the scene. In another incident that was reported 12 hours earlier, the Jerome Police Department responded to a report of a shooting just before 9:30 P.M. Tuesday.

A single female gunshot victim was rushed to the hospital from a South Birch Street residence for care, according to the department's release. This matter is also under investigation.
