The weather has cooled off over the last month, and it feels like Fall finally but is warmer than average around this time of year. The cool weather is fast approaching and soon we will be missing this weather and the warmer days of summer and early fall. With the weather dropping it would be expected that the insects and bugs would begin lightening up and slowly lessoning, but many residents are experiencing the opposite. In work buildings, stores, and at home the bugs seem to be worse now than they were in the summer months when bugs are expected to be out and about. What is causing them to be taking over and what is the best form of treatment?

Sitting at home or your desk at work, odds are you have noticed a couple more flies in the building lately, and you are not alone. Flies seem to be coming out in bunches the last month or so, and while many of us may think it is only our home, it is not. Flies are actually out in more numbers and are invading buildings more this time of year. The season of the fly is in full swing and will be until the weather reaches a certain temperature, but what is causing more and more of these pesky critters to invade our personal space?

It is no secret that flies enjoy warm weather, so what is the reason for the increase this time of year? As the temperatures begin to drop, flies are looking for safety and warmth, so they are searching for ways to sneak inside buildings, cars, and wherever they can escape the inevitable cold. With so few places to escape, they end up congregating in similar areas, multiplying the number of flies in one area. While flies may only live a couple of weeks, they breed and multiply in that time as well. As they multiply, the flies get bigger through the season, and more and more are born. The climate can affect fly numbers, as well as predators in the area. With such a warm summer and the temperatures remaining higher this time of year than normal, the fly population has benefited and we are left dealing with the repercussions.  All those spiders you killed this summer are now coming back to haunt you.

Flies do not know personal space, they are annoying, and they need to go away and do so quickly. While fly season is in full swing right now and they continue to invade our personal space, homes, and work environments, hope is on the horizon. Temperatures will soon drop and once it does, there won't be as many places to escape and hide anymore for these annoying creatures. Continue to swat as many as you can, but fly season will soon be coming to an end, we hope.
