KEZJ’s Courtney Runs 100 Miles For Veteran Suicide Charity
I started this on a whim and I am so excited it is getting traction. I have decided to participate in a fundraiser for "Stop Soldier Suicide" which is a 501c3 that supports veterans and soldiers who suffer from PTSD.
Originally my goal was $200 but I have pretty much met that already. Now my goal is $500 and I have a feeling that is going to be surpassed as well. There is not enough help for our veterans and our soldiers. I can't even imagine what they go through each and every day and I am so thankful for the sacrifices they make and continue to make.
Like I said, there isn't enough help out there for the people that have done the most. So, if I can run 100 miles in May to help raise some money, then that is what I am going to do. I will average about 3 and a half miles per day through the entire month. I will document my journey and want to thank every single person who joins me or donates.
Veterans are at a 50% higher risk of suicide than their peers, this organization helps with mental health support, alternative therapies, resources, education, training, housing assistance and more. Whatever a veteran needs "Stop Soldier Suicide" works to help.
If you want to join me and run you can go to their Facebook page and sign up or you can donate here.
Thank you all for all the support and kind words, if you want to keep up with my journey and not donate or anything I would appreciate that as well. Everything helps get awareness out.
