He is a member of the Rock Creek Fire Department where he is always interacting with and helping the community whether it is responding to calls or showing the local kids around the fire house and trucks. He never complains and does it with a smile. He is always promoting the local community and events going on. He has a huge heart and loves what he does. The nominator for Benjamin says that through all the struggles and tribulations life has brought him since being paralyzed at 18, he is still always willing to smile and be kind every day. He works at Walmart and always treats people with kindness respect and a smile. He works so hard for his family and is an amazing father and husband. He is a genuinely great man and fun to be around. The nominator for Derek says he retired from the Marine Corps after 20 years. He has been an amazing asset to the Jae Foundation helping bring mental health and suicide awareness to our town and surrounding areas. He recently purchased the Cactus Grill & Bar in Kimberly and his goal has been to make it a place for people to feel welcomed and like they are sitting at home. He takes the time to greet each person and find out their story. He is one that you’ll never forget because he makes you feel like you are the most important person in the room.
