Twin Falls is a growing town, and most of the Magic Valley towns have seen their population grow over the last few years. The area is made up of small farming communities and makes for a great place to raise a family. It is mostly quiet, slow-paced, and easygoing. While every place has crime, the crime in the Magic Valley typically isn't that bad compared to other places. As the population grows, the crime rates go up a tad but still stay lower than most places. Over the last month, Twin Falls has seen a handful of crimes that have raised some eyebrows, and it bares questioning, is Twin Falls and the Magic Valley still safe?

Is Twin Falls a Safe Place to Live?

Twin Falls use to feel safe, as recently as a year or two ago, but the last few months have begun to make residents wonder if it is still a safe place to live. A few weeks ago there was a non-fatal shooting in the Target parking lot, and on the same night, a homicide took place as well. While suspects are in custody for both instances, and they are believed to be linked, things escalated again this past weekend, when two men were involved in a double homicide. These crimes, along with the drug busts that have taken place, makes one question, is Twin Falls still a good place to raise a family, or is it time to move on?

In a recent story, it was asked if guns should be banned in Idaho. This was about the Target shooting and the homicide. While the story concluded that they shouldn't, what is the solution to lowering the crime rate? Drugs, murders, and theft, all seem to be increasing. In today's world, there are more cameras and security devices than ever before, meaning the chances of committing a successful crime are thin. So why do people find a need to attempt them? The holidays can bring out the worst in people and might be playing a factor, but that doesn't explain why crime the rest of the year is up. The more and more people move to the Magic Valley, the more and more crime it will see.

Hopefully, these crimes are the exception to the rule and won't become the norm. There have already been far too many incidents lately, and it would be nice to see them become a thing of the past instead of a trend. Be nice to one another, be patient, and treat everyone how you'd want to be treated. As stated above, the odds are not good for getting away with any type of crime, so why bother?
