Why the Time Change Was a Good Thing in Idaho
Most people hate the time change and groan about it twice a year when it is time to change the clocks. Despite what most hope for, it doesn't appear to be going away in the Gem State anytime soon, if ever. This week, many have been adjusting to the nighttime happening sooner and adjusting to their sleep schedule. Despite the annoying time change, there is actually some goodness that can come out of it in Idaho, and one reason you should enjoy the one that just took place.
The Time Change in Idaho is Good
It's not often you hear the word 'good' when talking about changing the clocks, but there is actually something positive to take away from the change that occurred at the beginning of this week. The days are getting dark earlier, and you may find yourself a little more tired in the afternoon at work, and wanting to go to bed earlier in the evening than normal. The good news for parents is that you can now do so, and this week and next are the best times to capitalize on this opportunity. If you have little kids who don't realize a time change took place and are seeing it get dark outside, you can convince them it is bedtime earlier than normal and then enjoy your evening while your kids sleep, or you can go to bed earlier yourself.
Manipulating Your Kids With Time Change
The first week or two after the clocks change is the worst. It is when many of us are adapting to sleep patterns, more darkness or light, and adjusting to everyday life. It can also work to your benefit, as during Daylight Saving Time, it can be tough to get a kid to go to bed when the sun is still out until nearly 10 at night. This time of year, you can convince your kids to go to bed around 6:30 when the sun goes down and it is dark out. Kids who don't know how to tell time judge bedtime by the sun being up or down. This allows you to get that much-needed sleep you want, a chance to watch a movie, or to enjoy time in quiet without kids. With the extra time, you could get a lot done around the house, catch up on shows, or even read a book and relax.

Make sure to use this power to your advantage if you have little kids right now, before they adjust and realize what is happening. If you are lucky, this could change their schedule for the next few months. The only concern is that the earlier they go to bed, the earlier they wake up, so it could backfire on some mornings.
