Temporary Traffic Light to Stand at Timmerman Junction for Eclipse
BELLEVUE, Idaho (KLIX) A temporary traffic control signal will be placed at a busy intersection south of Bellevue to help manage incoming and outgoing traffic for the eclipse. The Blaine County Sheriff's Office says the Idaho Transportation Department will install a temporary traffic signal today at the intersection of Highway 75 and Highway 20 at Timmerman Junction.
Usually traffic on Highway 20 must stop for slowing traffic on Highway 75, but the sheriff's office says the signal will make the intersection a four-way stop. Thousands of spectators are expected to flood into areas like the Wood River Valley to view the April 21, total eclipse.
The light will be equipped with sensors that will change the signals and warning signs will be placed ahead of the intersection to warn drivers as they approach. The signal will be up through Monday after the eclipse.
