Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash on Highway 26 Near Swan Valley
BONNEVILLE COUNTY – Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a fatal crash involving a single vehicle that occurred early Saturday morning, November 16, 2024, on Highway 26 near milepost 368, just west of Swan Valley.
What Happened?
At approximately 1:15 a.m., a 53-year-old man from Victor, Idaho, was traveling eastbound in a 2003 GMC pickup. According to ISP, the vehicle left the south shoulder of the road and collided with an embankment. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency Response
Idaho Falls Fire assisted ISP at the crash site. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident.

Other Accidents: Two-Vehicle Crash Near Declo Causes Traffic Disruptions
DECLO – Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred late Thursday morning, November 14, 2024, near Declo. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
Crash Details
At approximately 11:31 a.m., a 21-year-old man from Carlsbad, California, was driving a 2013 Mazda CX-5. After exiting eastbound I-84 at exit 216, he attempted to turn left onto southbound SH-77 toward Declo. According to ISP, the driver failed to yield to a southbound semi-truck driven by a 37-year-old man from Sonora, Mexico.
The semi swerved to avoid the Mazda, lost control, and went over the overpass.
Injuries and Traffic Impact
The semi driver was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The overpass for SH-77 and the eastbound lanes of I-84 at exit 216 were blocked before crews were able to clear the scene.
