Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Post Falls, Idaho
Post Falls, Idaho – Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles that occurred on the evening of November 19 at the intersection of SH41 and W Prairie Avenue in Post Falls.
Crash Details
At approximately 6:40 p.m., a 75-year-old man from Cocolalla was driving north on SH41 in a Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection. The Silverado collided with a Toyota Prius traveling west on W Prairie Avenue, driven by a 56-year-old man from Coeur d'Alene.
Fatal Injuries to Driver of Toyota Prius
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. The driver of the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The driver of the Toyota was also transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Next of kin have been notified.
Traffic Impacts and Response
The crash led to significant traffic disruptions, with SH41 and W Prairie Avenue being completely shut down for one hour and partially blocked for nearly two hours.
ISP was assisted by Post Falls Police, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and the Idaho Transportation Department during the incident response.
