6 Signs That You Are Getting Old in the Gem State
Age is inevitable, and no matter what, you will continue to get older with each passing day. Getting older can be fun, especially as a child when you hit milestones like ten, becoming a teenager, learning to drive, and eventually becoming an adult. Some enjoy getting older as wisdom and experiences often come with age, but eventually, your body starts to reject you and shows signs that instead of getting to your peak in life, you are now beginning to decline and inch closer to being old. There are signs that you are beginning to get old, and in Idaho some of them are subtle and others are very specific.
Driving Like an Old Person in Idaho
Everyone in Idaho has been on a two-lane road at least once, stuck behind a slow driver, likely, an elderly person. We sit, get impatient, maybe honk our horn, and then speed around them when it is clear. When the day comes that you realize other vehicles are riding your bumper, swerving, and seeming impatient, it is a sign that you have joined the elderly drivers club and are officially getting old.
Comfy or Fat Pants in Idaho
Most people are taught to look presentable or their best when they leave the house. This includes going to church, work, and for some even running errands. There comes a day when you start to care less about your appearance and more about comfort. Perhaps you find yourself leaving the house more in sweatpants or pants with elastic, compared to in the past when you had on jeans or wore a belt. This is a sign you are getting old, and perhaps have put on some weight. Either way, life is better when your pants stretch.
Loving Your Lawn in Idaho
When you are young you may mow lawns to earn money during the summer, but likely, you don't care or know much about grass, weeds, and keeping a pretty lawn. Even after you buy your first home, you mow and do the minimum to keep your yard looking respectable. When the day comes that you find yourself talking to your friends, family, and neighbors about your yard, it is a sign that you are getting old. You likely will spend minutes or hours each week standing at the window admiring your work once you hit this stage in life.
Complaining About Parked Vehicles in Idaho
When owning a home, from time to time people will park in front of your house to visit your neighbors, cause their car broke down, or they are going to a house down the street. It shouldn't bother you because they are doing nothing wrong, but if you find yourself complaining about vehicles parked in front of your home for no reason, it is a sign you might be getting cranky in your old age.
Complaining About Noise in Idaho
During the summer and around the end of the year it isn't uncommon to hear fireworks being shot off as many enjoy celebrating before and after the holidays. While fireworks going off after midnight can be annoying, especially if you are a light sleeper, when you complain about them going off at 9 p.m., that might be more of your crankiness kicking in. If you find yourself complaining about cars with loud music, children yelling, or dogs barking outside during the day, welcome to your old age.
Taking Naps in the Gem State
Taking naps as a child seems like a punishment, but as an adult, it seems like a reward and a luxury. It isn't often that adults have the opportunity to take a nap, but if every time you sit down you begin to drift, fall asleep, and take a full nap, you might be getting older. There are days you exhaust yourself physically but if you need a nap after eating breakfast, then you are officially getting old.

While some may view this as me making fun of old people, that isn't true. These are all signs I have picked up on over the last few weeks and months, and reality is hitting that age is catching up to me, as well as my body. If you see any of the symptoms above, congratulations you are now getting older.
