Washington State Looks To Be Getting Supersonics Basketball Back
It's been nearly two decades since the pride and joy of Seattle men's professional basketball relocated to Oklahoma. Seattle was home to a men's pro organization for over four decades before 2008.
KUOW shared details of the recent vote by National Basketball Association leaders to proceed with expansion efforts to bring back the signature green-and-yellow brand that was present in the city for 41 years, which could finally answer the dreams of basketball fans in the Evergreen State.
I had a chance to catch a game in the Bay Area during the final year the Supersonics were representing Seattle. Kevin Durant was a rookie, and I remember watching him from the seats in awe of his talents.

It turns out Seattle residents have a couple of reasons to be happy at the moment. The city's iconic Space Needle is in the process of getting a $100 million renovation.
If all goes according to plan, the Seattle Supersonics could be taking the floor again as early as 2028, and most likely at the Climate Pledge Arena. There is currently one professional basketball team that calls Seattle home, and that's the WNBA's Seattle Storm.
As a former fan of the team, I hope plans proceed, and the people of Seattle get their beloved basketball team back. It's been a very long wait.
