Fatality Crash on State Highway 25 in Rupert Under Investigation

According to a press release, Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Friday, October 25, 2024, at approximately 11:02 a.m. on State Highway 25 in Rupert, Idaho.

Details of the Crash

The incident involved a 37-year-old man from Burley, driving a 2024 Volvo semi-truck with two trailers. The driver was heading westbound on State Highway 25 near milepost 52 when he encountered a 60-year-old male pedestrian on the road. While attempting to swerve and avoid the pedestrian, the second trailer struck the individual.

Outcome and Response

The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries following the collision. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the incident.

Road Closure and Investigation

As a result of the crash, westbound lanes on State Highway 25 were blocked for approximately two hours while emergency responders cleared the scene and provided assistance. Idaho State Police has stated in a press release that the investigation is ongoing.
