Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash Near Murtaugh Claims Two Lives
Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened at 8:44 a.m. on February 6, 2025, at the intersection of US30 and 4750 E in Twin Falls County.
Details of the Crash
A 72-year-old man from Murtaugh was driving a 2018 Chevy Traverse westbound on US30 with a 74-year-old female passenger. At the same time, an 18-year-old man from Burley was traveling eastbound in a 2015 Chevy Malibu when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Traverse.
Fatalities and Injuries
The driver of the Malibu succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Both occupants of the Traverse were transported via air ambulance to a local hospital, where the passenger later passed away from her injuries. The driver of the Traverse remains hospitalized.
Seatbelt Usage and Road Closures
ISP reported that the driver of the Malibu was not wearing a seatbelt, while both individuals in the Traverse were properly restrained. The crash caused a full closure of US30 at the intersection of 4750 E for approximately three hours as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.
Agencies Involved in the Response
Multiple agencies assisted with the incident, including the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Kimberly Police Department, Rock Creek Fire Department, Magic Valley EMS, Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, Air St. Luke’s, Classic Air, and the Idaho Transportation Department.
