Is Registering for a Birthday Party Inappropriate?

Awe birthday parties. My kids love it when we are invited to birthday celebrations, they get to play and eat cake. I am able to catch up with my friends and celebrate a child's life. Birthday parties are great! The only thing that can be difficult about a birthday is getting the perfect gift. I just received a birthday invitation that included a gift registry. To be honest I was I was a little surprised when I first saw the registry but after realizing this took the guess work out of gift buying I think we should all be doing this.
