This, my friends, is why some people refuse to swim in rivers. This massive (and harmless) Sturgeon was found in Hell's Canyon.

It's hard to believe that a 10 foot, 470 pound Sturgeon still exists... until you see pictures. KMVT reported that during an Idaho Power survey, this giant Sturgeon was captured in Hells Canyon. They gathered information about the fish and then released it back in the river. The fish is estimated at more than 75 years old, and she was released unharmed.

The survey is part of Idaho Power’s efforts to preserve and protect White Sturgeon in the Snake River as part of its requirements under federal licenses to operate its hydroelectric projects.

It's cool to know that the largest freshwater fish in America lives right here in Southern Idaho.
