Idaho State Police Investigate Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Bonneville County

Crash Details of Two-Vehicle Colision

Bonneville County, Idaho – Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Tuesday night on US26 near milepost 340, north of Iona.

At approximately 11:59 p.m. on October 22, 2024, ISP responded to a two-vehicle collision. A white Hyundai Sonata driven by a juvenile male from Idaho was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line, colliding with a blue Dodge pickup driven by a 28-year-old man from Rigby, Idaho. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Lack of Seat Belt Use

Authorities confirmed that neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Road Closure and Emergency Response

The highway was blocked in both directions for more than five hours as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage. ISP was assisted by the Idaho Transportation Department, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho Falls EMS, and Fire.
