Thomsen Park Playground Will Be Closed for Upgrades in March

If Clyde Thomsen Park is one of your regular spots to take the kids playing, you’ll want to take note—the playground will be off-limits for most of March. The City of Twin Falls Parks Department is giving the play area an upgrade, which means the current equipment is being removed to make way for new equipment.

When Will the Playground Be Closed?

The playground area at Thomsen Park will be completely closed from Tuesday, March 4, through Friday, March 28. Crews are removing the existing structures and preparing the site for new equipment. While the city hasn’t specified what new features will be added, they assure that the improvements will create a safer, more modern space for kids to enjoy.

It's worth mentioning that the rest of the park will be open during the construction process and if you visit the park, be sure to stay clear of any areas under construction.

About Clyde Thomsen Park

Located at 1036 Carriage Lane, Clyde Thomsen Park has been a part of Twin Falls since its development in 1995. The city purchased part of the land in 1992, and the rest was donated in 1993. The 13-acre park offers a variety of amenities, including a sledding hill, a half-mile paved walking trail, and two picnic shelters with electricity.

Park Features

Aside from the playground, visitors can enjoy:

  • Baseball/Softball Field
  • Benches
  • Biking Trails
  • Drinking Fountains
  • Picnic Tables
  • Volleyball
  • Open Green Space
  • Walking Track
  • Restrooms
  • Shelters with Electricity and Grills

The larger shelter seats 36 adults and includes a grill, while the smaller one accommodates 12 adults. Reservations for park shelters can be made online or by calling the Parks and Recreation office at (208) 736-2265.

What’s Next?

The city understands that the closure may be an inconvenience but asks for patience as they work to improve the park’s play area. Once the updates are complete, you can look forward to a refreshed space designed for safe play.
