What Is the Planning and Zoning Commission?

The P&Z Commission plays a crucial role in ensuring the city's development aligns with its long-term plans. Members review zoning ordinances, consider land-use requests, and make recommendations to the City Council. This can include evaluating proposals for new housing developments, businesses, or infrastructure projects.

Meeting Commitments

The commission meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 203 Main Ave. E. Meetings can vary in length, lasting from 10 minutes to several hours depending on the agenda.

Members should expect to:

  • Review and analyze city codes, including City Code 2-11 and 2-12, which govern P&Z responsibilities.
  • Attend public hearings and provide input on matters that directly affect city residents.
  • Work collaboratively to make decisions that balance growth with preserving the community’s character.

Why Join?

Serving on the P&Z Commission is an excellent way to contribute to the city's development while gaining experience in public service. Whether you're passionate about urban planning, housing, or the future of Twin Falls, this role offers a meaningful way to make an impact.
