Twin Falls City Pool Temporarily Closed Due to Second Fecal Incident

For the second time in a week, the Twin Falls City Pool has been forced to close due to an accidental fecal release. The closure occurred on Friday evening and will extend through the weekend. Parks and Rec plans to reopen the pool on Monday, March 10, at 5:30 a.m.

Refunds for Scheduled Parties

The temporary closure will impact all weekend activities at the facility, including birthday parties. According to Twin Falls Parks and Recreation, anyone with a scheduled party will receive a full refund.

A Reminder for Healthy Swimming Habits

City officials are urging pool visitors to follow CDC-recommended swimming hygiene guidelines to help prevent future incidents. These include:

  • Staying out of the pool if experiencing diarrhea.
  • Showering for at least one minute before entering the water.
  • Avoid swallowing pool water.
  • Taking children for frequent bathroom breaks and checking diapers regularly.

The Twin Falls City Pool provides free swim diapers to assist parents in reducing accidents. Parks and Rec also said that chlorine becomes less effective when mixed with dirt, sweat, urine, and fecal matter, leading to increased health risks.

For more information on swimming hygiene, the CDC’s recommendations can be found here.

The city apologizes for the inconvenience and will provide updates if the reopening schedule changes.
