6 Reasons to Avoid Going to Blue Heart Near Twin Falls

Blue Heart Springs in Idaho is known to be one of the most beautiful places to go kayaking, swimming, boating, and an escape to enjoy a summer afternoon near, on, or in the water. Ask most locals and they will say it is their favorite spot to go to in the summer. Tourists that visit usually make it a must-visit on their trip. It is a beautiful place to go, but is it overrated? Perhaps residents should stop visiting Blue Heart and tourists should stay away. Here are some reasons why to avoid Blue Heart this summer.

The Water is Too Cold

Most of the water in Idaho is cold, as it typically is run off from all the snow through the long winters. Blue Heart Springs is always a bit chillier than most it seems, and while it might be triple digits outside and feel good, it is a little too chilly for the body at times. If you are looking to cool off, instead of hitting up Blue Heart hit up Centennial Park or the Shoshone Ice Caves instead.

The Water is too Clear and Beautiful

One of the draws to Blue Lakes is that the water is so clear you can see everything beneath you. For some, this might be comforting because you can see the bottom and know what is swimming below, but knowing can add to the terror as well. The depth can be misleading, and seeing the bottom, you might think it is more shallow, only to find out it is deeper than you thought. A little mystery goes a long way, and seeing what is underneath is overrated. 

It is Hard Work to Get to

Unlike other places around the area, you have to work to get to Blue Heart. Ridder Island, Dierkes, and Centennial Park you can drive to, park, and be in the water within minutes, whereas Blue Heart takes far too much work to get to since there isn't anywhere nearby to park. Having the car close by is nice, and makes it more convenient. 

There is No Bathroom

One of the reasons to avoid going to Blue Heart is that if you have to take a tinkle or take care of your business, there isn't an option to go. Behind a tree or in the water are options, but other visitors may not appreciate either one. If you got to go you got to go, but by staying away from Blue Heart, it doesn't become a concern. You can enjoy the water elsewhere that has a bathroom at a convenient location for you instead of stressing about where to go. 

It is too Isolated

When you go out to a place to enjoy the water, you don't want it to be too crowded, but you also like to have people around in case something goes wrong or to perhaps make new friends. It is nice at times to do some people-watching in the summer, and at Blue Heart, there are likely to be people around, but not as many as you are used to or expect. Not everyone knows about Blue Heart or is willing to put in the effort to get there, therefore, it is typically less crowded. Go enjoy the people at other locations, and skip Blue Heart this summer. 

There is No Picnic Area

While out in on the water it is nice to take a snack or lunch with you so that you can enjoy the outdoors all day, instead of having to drive home or into town to eat. The problem with Blue Heart is that it is such natural beauty that there aren't even picnic tables to have lunch at. Your options are to eat on your kayak or boat, or the rocks, and that isn't as convenient or comfortable as many would like. It is best to stay closer to town or more public places so you can have a nice spot in the shade to enjoy a picnic in the summer.

While the hope is that these reasons will keep others from going to Blue Heart, for those that have been you know it is worth the trip, the water is spectacular, although cold, and the lack of toilets and picnic areas is part of the appeal of going. Blue Heart is a gem that the residents of the Magic Valley are lucky enough to have nearby. Encourage your friends, family, and any tourist you meet to stay away, so it doesn't get too populated and we can continue to enjoy it.
