Remember the lady who was fired after she posted nasty comments about her boss on facebook?  She's suing... but according to ABC News and The Associated Press, it looks like there may be a settlement in the works.

The National Labor Relations Board alleges the woman's employer, American Medical Response of Connecticut Inc., illegally fired emergency medical technician Dawnmarie Souza in late 2009 after she criticized her supervisor on her personal Facebook page. AMR officials have claimed she was ousted after complaints of rude service.

They shouldn't need to give a reason.  Is this a free country?  Yes.  Does she have the right to post her commnets?  Yes.  Does the company have the right to fire her for being a jerk?  ABSOLUTELY.

The NLRB's complaint, filed in October, could set a precedent for employers, as more workers use social networking sites to talk about their jobs.

This isn't an issue about freedom of speech.  Nobody is banging on her door and arresting her for what she said.  This is a free country.  We can say what we want... but just because we can doesn't always mean we should.  And if what you say gets you fired, maybe you should have kept your big mouth shut or at least not have been an idiot and put it in print for all the world to see.
