CLOSED: Twin Falls Splashpad Closed Indefinitely
Twin Falls Splash Pad at First Federal Park Undergoing Repairs All Summer
The Twin Falls Splash Pad at First Federal Park, which has been operating at the Sunway Soccer Complex for nearly a decade, will remain closed for the season due to ongoing repairs. The pad was closed in May 2024 to undergo a resurfacing project aimed at repairing damage and ensuring a safe environment for children and families.
Funding for Project Repairs
The City of Twin Falls allocated $369,000 in recovery funds for the project, while First Federal Bank contributed an additional $60,000 for the necessary repairs.
Current Progress and New Developments
Earlier this summer, the playground portion of the First Federal Park underwent repairs and reopened in June of 2024. Following a resurfacing project, the splash pad had been expected to reopen in late July or early August. On July 24, 2024, Twin Falls Parks & Rec announced that crews were working on the final touches to the pumps and filtration system to ensure everything was in perfect working order.
However, the City of Twin Falls recently announced that the splash pad will remain closed for the rest of summer due to unresolved mechanical issues.
Official Statement from the City of Twin Falls
The City of Twin Falls issued the following statement regarding the closure:
"The City of Twin Falls regrets to inform the community that the splash pad at Sunway Soccer Complex will remain closed for the remainder of the summer season. The City is committed to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all users, and we cannot reopen the facility until mechanical issues are completely repaired. We apologize for the inconvenience this closure causes — especially during these brutal heat waves — and appreciate the community’s understanding. We look forward to reopening the splash pad as soon as possible."
Parks & Rec did not provide additional details for the extended closure, nor did they provide any indication as to when the pad will be open next season. Hopefully, the extended closure will give crews the added time needed to ensure a successful opening next season.
History of First Federal Park
First Federal Bank donated the park to the City of Twin Falls in 2015. The park features an all-inclusive playground and the first splash pad in Twin Falls. This isn't the first time the park and splash pad has undergone maintenance; in the summer of 2023, the splash pad was temporarily closed for repairs due to damage.
