Doing mazes can be fun. Many in Idaho enjoy doing hay mazes and corn mazes. They are some of the best parts of Idaho in the fall. Getting lost, trying to find the right path, and the fulfillment of finding the exit is an unmatched joy. Some mazes are easy and don't take long, while others take awhile, causing frustration, and even panic if you will ever get out. While there are some tough mazes in the Gem State, the toughest maze to navigate is not one made of corn or hay, but one that many Idahoans must try to figure out daily.

Construction in the Magic Valley

The Magic Valley has turned into a labyrinth and a very tough one at that. Construction has been happening all over the Magic Valley for months, and it continues to pop up day-to-day and week-to-week. Sometimes a road may be closed for a day, in other instances for a week or two, and for some major projects, it can take months or longer. Due to so many different projects occurring at the same time, it makes navigating the roads in the Magic Valley tough. Streets you drive up and down every day to get to and from work, run errands, or to and from dropping your children off at school can be open one day and closed the next. It continues to occur and makes finding routes that work similar to that of navigating a maze.

For those who think calling the roads a maze or a labyrinth might be extreme, last week was a prime example. When picking up my child from school, a road I take every day was closed. I went a street over to go around the construction, to find that it was closed as well. I worked my way back to the street I normally drive after making it past the construction, to then find out further down, it was down to one lane. This was all within two blocks of each other. Yes, this is abnormal and an extreme situation, but it did happen and shows how navigating the Magic Valley can be day-to-day. The projects are piling up and it is making the Magic Valley tougher than the hay and corn mazes that many residents enjoyed the last month or two.
