The flu is here. Ugh! My littlest son was sick last week, my oldest and I are sick this week. The radio station has been one big flu virus all month so it's time to read up on ways to prevent sickness.  According to health.com there are some surprising ways to prevent the flu or a cold.

  1. Lose the booze - It disrupts your sleep cycle.
  2. Sipping tea helps - breathing in steam stimulates the cilia, which are the hair follicles in the nose. This moves the germs out more efficiently.
  3. Get a protein fix - Research shows that diets that are too low in protein can deplete the immune system.
  4. Clean at the gym - Gyms are full of bacteria. Clean off equipment before and after you use it.
  5. Sanitize your office - Clean your keyboard, light switches, door knobs, etc.
  6. Breath out - If someone is coughing near you try not to breath in their air.
  7. Take Zinc - if your throat to soar take zinc
  8. Drink up - Drink water constantly to flush toxins out through the lymph system. During cold and flu season start drinking juice. Vegetable and fruit juices have the nutritious you need to keep you healthy.
  9. Keep you hands to yourself - Germs are everywhere. Try not to touch hand rails, doors, light switches or keyboards without sanitizing them first. And wash your hands as often as you can.
