People in the Gem State Need to Stop This Trend Immediately
Everyone wants to be on social media these days it appears. Even when they have little to contribute to a conversation, many want to post something to have others read their content, visit their page, and be heard. Social media trends come and go and many try to be a part of them when they are at their peak. While some trends involve doing something funny, a dance, a song, or some sort of entertainment, there are other trends that many may not realize they are doing. There is one trend happening in Idaho on social media that needs to end immediately, and should never have become a trend to begin with.
Posting Lost Animals on Facebook in Idaho
Many people take to Facebook to ask for advice or to help neighbors. This a great way to use social media, and one way people use it to help out is to post lost items they have found, asking if someone is looking for them. While this can be beneficial, it can also be a problem as well. Many in the Gem State will post cats and dogs that they find asking if anyone is looking for them, but the problem is that many cats are known to roam neighborhoods and be outside cats, with some being inside and outside cats. By picking them up and bringing them home to post on Facebook, you have taken someone's pet that may not have been lost at all, and now the cat is confused and away from its family.
Taking Lost and Stray Animals in Idaho
While intentions might be good in doing this, some do this on purpose, hoping to receive an award of some sort. It is best to leave animals, especially cats alone as they likely will find their way home. Dogs are known to stroll neighborhoods when they get out, but they do typically return home eventually. If you see one in a dangerous area where there is heavy traffic flow or if it looks injured, helping it is the right thing to do, but when one is roaming on down the neighborhood, instead of capturing it, it is best to post the type of dog you saw and where incase an owner is looking for it.

Stop taking people's pets home and claiming to have found them, when they likely were not lost to begin with. You are kidnapping someone's pet, as well as stressing the animal out. If you are that concerned you can do as mentioned above and mention seeing the animal and the location, or you can call an animal shelter to pickup the pet, which is a likely place for an owner to look, compared to looking through Facebook pages.
