The roads in Idaho have been dangerous over the last few months, with many accidents occurring, and far too many of them being fatal. There are multiple reasons for these wrecks, with speed playing a factor, texting and driving, not slowing down, and changing lanes without looking. While all of these are things that drivers in Idaho need to be more aware of, there is another habit that many drivers in the Gem State need to stop which is putting others at risk. Drivers need to stop doing this dangerous habit before more people get hurt, or before someone ends up losing their life.

Lately, it appears more drivers in the Gem State are having an issue with pulling into traffic. A habit that continues to occur is that drivers are pulling onto the road, and going slow, hitting their brakes, or taking far too long to get up to speed. They do not consider the speed of the vehicles coming towards them. It is causing many to slam their brakes, slow down drastically, or in some severe cases have to swerve to the side to avoid rear-ending the vehicle that has pulled in front of them. There are repercussions for this behavior and habit, and it isn't good for anyone on the road.

Road Rage in Idaho

Two things that irritate drivers the most in Idaho are tailgating and being cut off. When the situation above occurs, both drivers typically think they are right, causing both situations to occur. The original driver on the road had been cut off and had to slow down since the vehicle didn't wait to pull out or get up to speed quickly, and the driver that pulled out is irritated that they have a car tailgating them and riding their bumper closely. This situation is happening too often, and it is causing road rage, as well as being a factor in some recent accidents in the area. It is best to wait for a wide opening or get up to speed as soon as possible. Brake checking, going slow, and being oblivious to drivers coming at a quick speed toward your vehicle is not safe.

Recently, in a 10-minute increment and three-mile radius, this occurred three times to me. Drivers need to pay attention to other vehicles around them, take into account the speed limit and speed of cars they are getting in front of, and get off their cell phones when driving, as it was a factor in one of the three. Everyone appears to be in a hurry these days, but it is best to take your time, wait for your opening, and be safe to ensure that everyone gets to their destination on the road.
