For many the dream is to buy a home, have a good job, and raise a family. Many have their dream about having kids one day. Someone to live the dreams they failed out, someone to have as their best friend, someone to watch grow and play with. Being a parent is hard, and is perhaps the toughest job in the world, but it can also be the most rewarding one as well. Most assume after a couple gets married that the next step is to expand that family by having kids, but not everyone chooses that route. Many in Idaho have decided against having kids and claim that their lives are better off without them. They have good reasons and don't seem to regret this decision.

Having kids and having a big family is the goal for some in Idaho, but it isn't for everyone. A recent study on marketwatch.com revealed that many couples have decided to not have children and are enjoying life without them. The survey calls couples that choose not to have kids DINKS, which stands for dual income, no kids. According to the study, 61 percent of DINKS could afford to have kids, but choose not to, with 39 percent saying it would ruin the lifestyle they want. While kids are expensive, most parents say they are worth it, but 91 percent of DINKS say there are financial benefits to not having children, and 89 percent claim without kids, their relationships have improved.

Money is nice to have, but children can often be called priceless. You can't put a value on the memories, the feelings, and the moments you have with your children. DINKS sees it differently though. Of those surveyed, 40 percent said that wealth was more important to them than having children. By not having kids, DINKS are four times more likely to not have financial stress than parents, and on average save nearly twice as much money per month. Parents on average save $413 a month in America, whereas DINKS save $908. To some parents, that sounds pretty good. So what are DINKS doing with all this extra money? According to the survey, 56 percent are using it to travel, while another 56 percent said that they are increasing their savings.

DINKS have said they have goals they want to accomplish and children would get in the way. An astounding 62 percent said that maintaining a long-lasting relationship with their partner is more important than children, with 61 percent saying they rather maintain their mental and physical health.
