Police have identified the man who led law officers on a high-speed chase on Tuesday, afternoon through parts of the Magic Valley, which ended with officers fatally shooting the suspect.

The suspect was James Bamber Jr., 28, of Pleasanton, Calif. Police said next of kin has been notified.

The Twin Falls Police Department, who is conducting the investigation because the shooting happened by authorities in another jurisdiction, said Bamber had multiple felony warrants issued for his arrest out of California, including burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm. He also was the suspect in a kidnapping that occurred in Pleasanton, suspected of committing a second kidnapping near Bald Mountain, Nev., and was believed to be driving a stolen vehicle, police said.

News Radio 1310 reported on the incident on Tuesday, but the suspect's name and other information about him was not available at the time.

As of Tuesday when Bamber led police on the chase through multiple Idaho counties, including Gooding County where the pursuit ended, a protection order had been issued against him in California.

The police department said the case is still under investigation. Once completed, the investigation will be submitted to the Gooding County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
