Fatal Crash Investigation in Power County

According to  press release, The Idaho State Police (ISP) is currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 5:42 p.m. The incident took place on East County Road, near US Highway 30 in Power County.

Details of the Incident

According to initial reports, two riders from Pocatello were traveling eastbound together on their motorcycles—a 2007 Honda and a 2007 Yamaha. During their ride, they failed to negotiate a curve, resulting in both riders sliding into a concrete barrier. They were subsequently separated from their motorcycles, which came to rest on the right shoulder of the road.

Both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Casualties and Injuries

Tragically, the 25-year-old male rider of the Honda motorcycle died at the scene from his injuries. The 26-year-old rider on the Yamaha sustained minor injuries and received treatment on-site from emergency medical services (EMS). He was not transported to the hospital.

Roadway Impact

Following the incident, East County Road was closed for approximately two and a half hours to allow for investigation and cleanup.
