Twin Falls Police Air New Mass Shooting Footage, Give Updates

At 10 A.M. on Friday, August 7, the Twin Falls Police Department and Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office provided a briefing on the mass shooting that resulted in three fatalities and seven other serious injuries carried out by a 24-year-old, lone, male gunman.

Members of the Twin Falls Police Department, Salt Lake City Federal Bureau of Investigation Office, and Twin Falls Sheriff Jack Johnson spoke at a briefing Friday morning that provided further details into the mass shooting that 150 law enforcement personnel from 19 different agencies responded to on Saturday, August 1.

Twin Falls Police made it clear right away that the 24-year-old who carried out the shootings would not be identified by name or given anything resembling attention, and instead be referred to as 'the gunman,' and 'the suspect."

Never-before-seen footage of the gunman carrying out the assaults at the eatery, visitor center, and along Blue Lakes Boulevard North was aired during the briefing. Police warned the community that viewer discretion was advised prior to starting the video.

Some of the new details released Friday included the fact that three motorists were wounded in cars on Blue Lakes Boulevard, and that 167 calls were made to local dispatchers (9-1-1) in the first hour of the deadly assault.

Footage from the newly released video also showed the gunman firing fatal shots with victims blurred out, interacting on the canyon hiking trail with business employees before shooting at one, and emergency responders pursuing the gunman moments before he shot himself. The footage also showed a former state police officer confront the suspect before being shot himself.

An In-N-Out vigil for the victims is planned for Friday, August 7 (today), at 3 P.M., at 1965 Blue Lakes Boulevard North.
