Two Major Grocery Store Chains to Close All Locations on Thanksgiving in CA This Year
With Halloween having passed, many will turn their attention to the next holiday. No, it isn't Christmas, despite what many think. Yes, it is time to begin your shopping, but Thanksgiving will come before the Christmas season is truly here. While it isn't a holiday that needs as much shopping as Halloween or Christmas, an argument can be made that it takes as much preparation, if not more, and possibly is a more stressful holiday. Nobody wants the pressure of potentially ruining the best meal of the year. When it comes to preparing for the holiday, it isn't malls, electronic stores, or online shopping that are busy, instead, it is grocery stores. Two major grocery stores have announced they will be closed on Thanksgiving in California, meaning you better not have to make a last-minute trip.
Walmart Closed on Thanksgiving in California
Walmart has long been a destination for many visits on Thanksgiving weekend, being one of the most popular destinations for holiday shopping and even last-minute grocery runs for Thanksgiving. Back in 2021, that changed, when Walmart announced they would be closed on Thanksgiving to allow their employees to enjoy time with their families, before the crazy holiday shopping weekend. Things haven't changed as each Thanksgiving since they have been closed. This year will be no different. If you were hoping to make a late run to Walmart, or if you forgot something for the big feast, you will have to look elsewhere, as all locations in the Golden State will be closed on the holiday. Don't worry though, as they will be open on Black Friday as always for your holiday shopping needs.
Trader Joe's Closed on Thanksgiving in California
While Walmart is a major blow to have closed if someone needs something, so too is Trader Joe's being closed as well. While it may not be as big of a brand as Walmart, the grocery store is a popular choice in California, and not having it as an option for a last-minute run if needed, is a blow for anyone looking to pick up a forgotten grocery item on turkey day. As most Trader Joe's customers know, this isn't anything new though, as they have long been closed on the holiday. Let this serve as a reminder though, that when shopping at the popular store before Thanksgiving, make sure you have everything you need before you checkout.
There is plenty of time to get everything you need for perhaps the best eating day of the year, but if something is forgotten, or you are looking at picking something up on your way to someone's house, know that these two are off the list as options to stop at. Make sure you have everything you need days before the holiday, or you may have to deal with the consequences of messing up someone's favorite dish or dessert. Thanksgiving is fast approaching, so get out and get the grocery shopping done, so stores being closed isn't a worry.
